  • No surgery required. SoundBite is simple, removable, and totally non-invasive. Furthermore, you'll need no dental work or alterations to your teeth.
  • Virtually invisible. Others will find it hard to know you are wearing it.
  • Clinically proven. SoundBite is clinically proven to improve your ability to hear and understand speech, even in noisy environments
  • Comfortable. Each easy-to-wear SoundBite hearing device is custom made just for you. You will barely know you are wearing it. You can continue to eat, drink, and bite down normally.

Does SoundBite require surgery?

SoundBite is NOT a surgically implanted device. It is completely removable and totally noninvasive. No dental work or alterations to your teeth are required.

Who is a good candidate for SoundBite?

SoundBite is appropriate for patients who are 18 years or older and have single sided deafness, meaning those who suffer from moderately severe, severe, or profound sensorineural hearing loss in one ear and have normal hearing in the other ear. SoundBite is also intended for patients with conductive hearing loss. In addition, SoundBite is intended for patients with good oral health. Talk to your audiologist or physician, typically an ENT or Otologist, to learn whether SoundBite treatment could be right for you.

Can I get SoundBite if I have crowns or wear dentures?

SoundBite has no contraindications for crowns, bridges, fillings, or dental implants. It does require that you have at least two contiguous upper molars or premolars and good dental health.

How do I get SoundBite?

Once prescribed by your treating physician, typically an ENT or Otologist, a simple partial impression of your teeth will be taken. From this impression, a custom made SoundBite system will be made just for you. You snap it on, it is programmed by your audiologist, and then you are on your way to a new world of sound.

How quickly can I get SoundBite?

Once SoundBite is prescribed by your treating physician, you can get SoundBite Hearing System quickly, in as little as 2 to 4 weeks.

How much does SoundBite cost?

Sonitus Medical intends to seek reimbursement for the SoundBite Hearing System directly from your insurance company. The amount that you will have to pay out of pocket depends on your individual insurance plan and your doctor's fees, and this may vary. Please ask your doctor for more information.

Can I eat and drink while wearing SoundBite?

Yes. You may continue to eat, drink, and bite down normally with SoundBite. Most food and beverages will not harm the device. It is important to clean the device thoroughly each time after you eat to make sure the device works correctly and you maintain good oral health.

What will be included in my SoundBite system?

You will receive the following SoundBite Hearing System components from your hearing professional:

  • SoundBite In-the-Mouth "ITM" hearing devices (2)
  • Behind-the-Ear "BTE" microphone unit (1)
  • Carrying Cases (2: One for the ITMs and one for the BTE)
  • System Charger

How do I charge my device? Are batteries required?

SoundBite does NOT require changing batteries. You will receive a system charger for both your ITM (in-the-mouth) hearing device and your BTE (behind-the-ear) microphone unit. The charge will last about 6 to 8 hours for the ITM and 15 to 18 hours for the BTE. You will be given two ITM hearing devices – one to wear, while the second is being charged. Charging the devices from a fully depleted state takes about 2.5 hours.
